AHIFA- Affordable Housing Is For All
is organized by HDFC shareholders with the goal of protecting and expanding housing affordability citywide. Together, we defend affordability, strengthen shareholder voice, & build a movement for housing justice. We meet monthly [virtually] to share resources, solve challenges, and build collective power.

Our Core Beliefs
• Everyone deserves safe housing
• Affordable housing is a human right
• HDFCs should be and remain affordable
• We must advance a shared political vision for housing justice
• We solve building challenges through collective strength and community power.
• Our HDFCs are a resident-run cooperative housing model that must be preserved and expanded in NYC, NYS, and beyond.

• Successfully advocated for the NYS Homeowners Assistance Fund
• Met with elected officials and city agencies across the City
• Commented on and rallied in support of Congressman Bowman’s Affordable CO-OP act
• Spoken on panels and at workshops about HDFCs as a unique form of housing (video below)
• Provided peer support for struggling HDFC co-ops
• Built connections with the tenant movement
• Co-hosted, with Cooperators United 4 Mitchell Lama (CU4ML) the 2025 NYC mayoral candidate forum centered on affordable co-op housing (video below)
